Cleaning ā€“ COVID-19 Update

Zerorez® is an indispensable service to protect your family during this pandemic. Our extensive cleaning services will be available over the coming weeks.

COVID-19 has caused economic turmoil around the world, including closures to fundamental staples of society such as schools, offices, restaurants, and more. With many people now quarantined in their homes it is crucial to follow the CDC guidelines on cleaning and disinfecting households.

The CDC guidelines are:
STEP 1 - "Cleaning refers to the removal of germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces. Cleaning does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection."
STEP 2 - "Disinfecting refers to using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection."

In addition to cleaning frequently touched surfaces, the CDC recommends:

1) Using disposable gloves when handling dirty laundry
2) Washing hands frequently
3) Avoiding large gatherings of people
4) Restricting unnecessary travel
5) Practicing "social distancing"

Laundry

The CDC recommends to wear disposable gloves while handling dirty laundry from an ill person. If gloves are reusable, you should dedicate the gloves to tasks that clean and disinfect surfaces from COVID-19 and not any other purpose. If possible, do not shake dirty laundry, and launder items in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Then, clean and disinfect the clothes hampers when finished.

Washing Hands

Clean hands often, especially right after removing gloves or coming in contact with an ill person. Make sure to wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. "If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol may be used. However, if hands are visibly dirty, always wash hands with soap and water." Always wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, and using the restroom, among other things.

Avoid Large Gatherings

You should avoid large gatherings of people when possible. This includes but is not limited to school, public work places, large community events such as concerts, and more. When in public, distance yourself at least 6 feet from the nearest person. If possible, just stay at home!

Travel

Please see the following link for current information on travel within and outside of the United States: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html

Social Distancing

The World Health Organization says: "Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease."
